Are you able to open a file directly from the web client modify and save or must you download locally, modify the file and save then re upload to the Wing FTP server, I have tried a straight open and save but it does not retain the changes, also will there be a possibility of being able to drag and drop from the web client in the future, thanks

You can modify the text file by online text editor, you must enable "File Write" permission for your home directory.
And drag and drop feature is very hard to realize, because Web Client is based on web browser, it is not a GUI application.

I know of the text editor but what about other files such as word, powerpoint etc etc, it does not seem to keep the changes even with full permission, thanks

Online text editor does not support word, powerpoint. It just can edit text files.

ok thanks, will it ever be a possible to open other file types and save back to the server or will you always have to download then upload back with the saved changes

You can just view or edit pure text file, like ".txt", ".xml", ".html"...

thanks but my question was will this functionality to open and save other file formats such as MS office ever be possible without having to download and upload

No, I think it is impossible. You had better download it, edit it, then upload it.
