I'm getting this SFTP Error Message...

Post by JP999 »

Hi, when I connect with SFTP i get this error message: [2] Authentication type [16] failed.

What does this mean?

It still connects to the server but I don't know why I'm getting this message, and if SFTP is really working or not.

Here's a more elaborate log:

[2] Connecting to Hostgator
[2] Connecting to xxx
[2] Establishing SFTP connection
[2] Authentication type [16] failed
[2] OpenSSH_5.3
[2] Encryption algorithm: aes128-ctr
[2] SFTP [v3] connection established
[2] Request Absolute Path
[2] "xxx" is current directory.
[2] "xxx" is current directory.
[2] Retrieving file list...
[2] Listed directory (1 seconds)
[2] Request Absolute Path
[2] "xxx" is current directory.

Please let me know how to fix, and more importantly, if the error means that there's something wrong with the SFTP connection (in which case I'll need a fix or use another FTP client)

It means there is problem during the SFTP authentication, but if you see the file listing, please ignore this problem, it doesn't matter.

Ok, thanks :)

Oh by the way, when I was connecting with SFTP to the same server with other FTP clients I got a message about a key or certificate of some kind, and if I wanted to save that to my cache or something like that. But with ftp rush i don't get this message...

Maybe that's why authentication is failing? because I'm not given the option to accept that key/certificate?

If so, is there a way to add that key to ftp rush manualy?

Please let me know
