FTPS Problem: failed to retrieve directory listing

Post by frhey »

Hello.

Server = wingFTPserver 3.8.7
Client = FileZilla 3.4.0
FTP and HTTPS works fine. No problems.

Connect and login to the server over FTPS (SSL/TSL) seems to be OK. But then comes a problem. After a few secounds of waiting the client disconnect the session: "failed to retrieve directory listing".

The Firewall has open ports on 990 tcp, 990 udp, 989 tcp and 989 udp and a NAT to the lokal adress 2.2.2.2.
(I change the IPs for this public board ;-) )

Here the domain-log from the server:
[02] Tue, 31 May 2011 16:12:49 (0000029) Connected from 111.111.111.111 (local address 2.2.2.2, port 990)

OK, If you tested with FTP correctly, but failed with FTPS, I think this problem is mostly due to Firewall/Router, so which firewall are you running? and do you use ISA?

This tip was enough :-)
Yes, it was the firewall. The problem is solved and FTPS is running now.

thank you.

Hmm.. Still stuck at MLSD. Using fileZIlla as client. Have opened up ports 10000-10500 at firewall for both TCP and UDP to WING server. In Wireshark,WING server keeps responding on ports in the range of TCP >57340.

I think your problem is not port, it is IP address, you must specify an internet IP address for the FTP Pasv Mode.

Please explain. I have entered the External FTP address in the correct box in the WING console. I have even static natted the internal FTP server address to its external address for outbound purposes.

The passive reply message must contain an WAN IP address, then WAN user can connect to it.
