URL link for download

I have one question about URL links for download. Is it necessary to to use filename and foldername in this link?
The current link is too long - there is filename and foldername included. I can keep this link active if I'm the original sender. But I can't ensure link will stay active, if the recipient forwards this link in new e-mail. The long link brakes into 2 or more lines. (Especially if recipient uses plain text emails not HTML/RTF emails.)

Isn't there any way to use something like:
http://ftp.domain.cz/main.html?download&code= ABCDEFGHJIKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

(of course no spaces in link, I have added it to display here all the example)

The download url is used for downloading by external tools(not file sharing). So when you logged out, then the download url won't be available any more.

You are right, I apologize.
I have been testing this on my computers and I didn't wise up to active session in one browser while I have been testing it in other browsers and on my notebook (I suppose it seems to be on the same external IP address for FTP server).
Back to this issue: Is there any way how can I share exact file(s) with exact users using some unique download link?
We prepare different PDF advertisement for different customers. Of course I can create RO account, upload there all files and they can download. But I'm looking for something more clever - not to make them to search the proper version, size etc. I want to send to magazine "X" one link: here is ad for you, please download it using this link, the other one for magazine "Y" etc. Not to have 20 accounts for every magazine, or not to have 1 RO account for all of them to risk they will download version with the same format but with older content. I don’t have any unique identification for this files, every magazine uses their system. Some of them have exact numbers, but we often don’t get them from customers. So I prefer to have my own unique system.

First, if you don't log out from web client, that download url will be available for every browsers or download tools.

And from your description, I think you need a feature - file sharing link, right? This is a good feature, we will consider to develop it in the later version.

Thank you for aditional info.
That is nice the link is available if I don't log out from web client - if I want to download the files using some download manager for example (but in this case I prefer native FTP client :). Usualy I can't be sure I'm logged all the time the other user uses my download links.
But the file sharing link independent on other user session could be realy good feature.

You know what even be cooler, a token link for the file share. Something that could be set to expire after x amount of time. You generate the token link and then you could email it to the person who needs temporary access to that file or files. Just my 2 cents.

Any news on this? I am looking for a product to allow my users to share files with people outside the company with un-authenticated access. I was really excited when I seen the 'download url' button, but it was immediately followed by disappointment when I closed my browser and sent the url to my boss which didn't work.

Next version will support direct download link.

Anyway to put some security on this feature. Like only allow certain users to be able to do this. Also the ablility to enforce expiration setting instead of being optional?
