Wing FTP Server Keeps Hijacking my server!

This is the 2nd time this has happened:

www.kazmax.co.uk

All domains on that dedicated server are affected. They all present the Wing FTP Server login page.

The last time this happened I couldn't access the server remotely and the ISP had to fix the problem. I will have to ask what they did later today, but for now my web sites are all off the Internet thanks to this.

Hi,

What's your meaning for hijacking? Wing FTP Server hijacked your other web server application?
If it is so, please remove http listener or change http listener port of Wing FTP Server.
And I noticed your Wing FTP Server is under version 3.1.2, you can upgrade to version 3.2.0 now.

Good luck!

Hijacking means that regardless of the http request that I send to the server via a browser, I am presented with the Wing FTP logon page - for ALL domains on that server. These domains behave perfectly normally for a couple of weeks, then without warning Wing FTP decides it is going to respond to every http request made of the server. I am not happy.

I have not configured http access for Wing FTP. I do not want http access for Wing FTP. I would very much like my domains to behave normally - because I am losing customers due to this issue.

I have just tried to access the server via remote admin, and cannot get through - the connection is terminated after a few seconds without ever giving me admin access. This is precisely what happened a couple of weeks ago and I had to get the ISP to manually restart the dedicated server. I am now submitting another support call to them for that.

The ISP advised that when this happened a couple of weeks ago they couldn't get into the server either, so they were forced to reboot the server. It appears that that cleared the problem - but it has just happened again today.

Wing FTP is making me feel very nervous because it seems like it randomly decides to respond to every http and RDP request made to the server, and once this is triggered the entire server is taken over by Wing FTP which responds to every http request made of it.

Hi,

Please upgrade to version 3.2.0 first, it has fixed some bugs.
And you can chat with me online to resolve this problem.

Okay, will do. I'm waiting for the ISP to reboot the server at the moment - until then I can't do anything.

I have just upgraded to v3.2. However I don't have time to configure it right now so I am going to disable the Wing FTP service for now.

Looking at the Service Control Panel I see entries for 'WinFtp Server service' (not running) and 'Wing FTP Server'. Should the WinFtp version be there? I'm wondering whether I removed v2 before installing v3.

Good work by the way. Wing FTP looks to be a good product even if I have been surprised by it grabbing the http traffic a couple of times.

I have the same problem. If I restart IIS and WingFTP Server is started, the next time I hit one of our websites, it goes straight to the WingFTP web interface. The only recourse I have is to stop WingFTP, reset IIS, and then restart WingFTP.

I am running v3.7.2. This is a gigantic nuisance as our web server also hosts a web service that is used by thousands of clients. If I don't notice that WingFTP has hijacked our web server, we could lose hundreds of transactions and get a bunch of pissed off customers. Is there a resolution for this?

OK, I think you are misunderstanding of it, different application must use different port for listener, for example, IIS uses port 80, and Wing FTP Server use port 8080 for its HTTP listener, and it you want to run IIS and WingFTP simultaneously with port 80, please check out this KB article: http://www.wftpserver.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=639
