That looks like that article is going to be a huge help. When it comes to the router, I only have to forward port 80 and port 8080? I thought an FTP needed to use port 21 or port 990 for a secure FTP?

The KB article was referring to the web client of WingFTP, not FTP client access.

It depends a lot on the client too. For example, a client on the same ISP network as the server can even download with 6-8MBps (64Mbps) but a client outside the server's ISP network can not go above 180KBps- I have tested it, it's not theoretical. WingFTP can't go beyond ISP-to-ISP network limits.

What I can say for sure is that WingFTP pushes data as fast as your ISP allows you on the public network. When I was on a ISP with slow upload speed (450KBps), WingFTP was constantly reaching the 500KBps upload barrier.
