JAVA security blocking WingFTP functions

Post by customer999 »

I am currently evaluating the WingFTP Server software for potential purchase. I am pleased with the general functionality of the software, but I notice that the Batch Download feature in the web client is blocked by JAVA, because the WingFTP security certificate for that app is self-signed.

Looking through this support forum, the suggested fix to this seems to be for me to tell all of my users - who are clients, not employees - to lower the JAVA security settings in their browsers. That would not be an option even if it did work, as I am not about to tell my clients how to manage their internet security. And it does not work, as the only available JAVA security setting now are "high" and "very high", and both block self-signed certs.

What is WFTP's solution to this issue?

The new version 4.4.7 signed all the Java Applets (JUpload & Jdownload), and they are also included in the installation package by default.
